Joe Yamaji — Conductor, Musicologist, and Educator

Joe Yamaji is a Japanese conductor, musicologist, and educator whose musical activities span performance, research, and international cultural exchange. A graduate of Musashino Academia Musicae, where he earned degrees in musicology, he has pursued conducting and musical studies in Japan and the United States, and has worked with major orchestras and musicians across more than 30 countries.

In addition to his conducting career, Joe Yamaji is known for his scholarly and editorial work, including projects on the music of Wilhelm Kempff (1895-1991), a German pianist and composer. His activities include historical revival performances, score reconstruction, publications, and collaborations with orchestras, soloists, and academic institutions. He currently serves as a faculty member at Musashino Academia Musicae and continues to develop artistic and educational projects internationally.
